it’s an ancient folk song in the xia and shang dynasties, describing the peaceful and harmonious life of ancients who rose to work at dawn and went to bed at dusk. shen deqian from the qing dynasty regarded it as “ the mother of chinese poetry” in the book origin of ancient poetry.
